So I had the three best consecutive bowling games of my life tonight. Scores of 124, 133, and 126 respectively. I might have been able to hit 150 on the last game except I wasted a strike by bowling a gutter and a 1 after it - my worst frame of the entire night. I know those are pretty pitiful scores for people who bowl even semi-seriously, but they're fantastic for me!!!! And I got to use my sparkly purple bowling ball with "CC" engraved on it . . . always a plus.

Then I saw Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and was definitely pleased. I like the earlier version too, but somehow it wasn't hard to avoid comparing them . . . the new one manages to put a different spin on the story w/o really changing the storyline. Just the focus on Charlie's family (and Wonka's) gives it an altogether different flavor. And it was amusing, as long as you are prepared to just take things as silly and laugh at them instead of going "this is weird." Johnny Depp is quickly becoming my favorite actor, as I was also pretty impressed with him in Pirates of the Caribbean and Finding Neverland. I've never seen much of his earlier work, although I knew who he was long before Pirates came out. I think those three movies really show what a good actor he is though because of how different he is in each of those parts.
