It's Not Why You Think
The eDiets subject line in my junk email box got me: Thinner or Smarter - Shocking survey results. In my present state of wishful thinking, I was hoping to read the survey and discover that smart women often have more trouble managing their weight because they are so busy doing smart-women things like studying for my property exam. (The slender bodies of most of my female classmates make this wishful thinking particularly wishful, but whatever.) Silly me, it was yet another survey pointing out that a majority of women, when asked, say they would rather be slimmer than have a higher IQ.
The article was of course bemoaning how this reflects our society's value on women's looks above their brains, yadda yadda. I don't have a particular beef w/ the idea that society values women's looks more than brains - it's open to some debate but all the same I don't feel compelled to vehemently contest it. But silly people! That's not why women answered the survey that way!!!
It's because we women are clearly the more intelligent species already. We've already got the brains we want, now its time to get the bodies we want!!
And if I didn't have to dig back into Easements and Covenants I would be inspired to go to the gym.
Six days and counting until I'm done with my 1L year . . .
